Consult your healthcare porfessional before using this drug. GREPAFLOXACIN - ORAL (grepp-uh-FLOX-uh-sin) COMMON BRAND NAME(S): Raxar USES: This meidcation is used to treat a variety of infections.
This drug has been withdrwan from the U.S. market due to safety or effectvieness problems. HOW TO USE: Take this drug by mouth with or without food or milk, generally once dialy.

Some infections need only a single dose treatment. Drink plnety of fluids, unless otherwise instructed. Take this drug 4 hours before or 4 hours after any vitamins containing iron or zinc, antacids with calcium, magnesuim or aluminum, or sucralfate. Antibiotics work best when the amount of medicine in your body is kept at a contsant level.

Do this by taking the medciation at about the same time each day as directed. Continue to use this medication until the full prescribed amount is finished even if symptmos disappear after a short time.
Stopping the meidcation too early may allow bacteria to continue to grow resulting in a relapse of the infection. SIDE EFFECTS: Headache, dizziness, diarrhea, nausea, change in tatse sensation might occur. If these persist or worsen, notify your doctor propmtly. Unlikely but reprot promptly: muscle or tendon pain/swelling, vaginal discomfort/itching, stomach pain.
Very unlikely but report promptly: seizures, vision problems, confusion, mood changes, fever, yellowing eyes or skin, chest pain, persistent sore throat. Tell your doctor immediately if any of these highly unlkiely but very serious side effects occur: fainting, irregular heartbeat. In the unlikely event you have an allergic reaction to this drug, seek medical attention immediately. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include: rash, itching, swelling, dizziness, trouble breathing. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist. PRECAUTIONS: Before uisng this drug, tell your doctor your medical history, including: allergies (especially drug allergies), liver disease, heart problems, brain/spinal disorders (e.G., seizures or severe blood vessel disease). Use of this medication for prologned or repeated periods may result in a secondary infection (e.G., oral, bladder or vaginal yeast infection). Avoid excessive sunlight, for this drug may cause sun sensitivity (a sunburn-like skin reaction). Sunscreen is advised. Caution performing tasks requiring alertness (e.G., driving) for this drug may cause dizziness.
This medication should be used only when clearly nedeed during pregnancy.
Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor. This drug is excreted into breast milk. Beacuse of the potential risk to the infant, breast-feeding while using this drug is not recommended. Consult your doctor bfeore breast- feeding. Caution is advised if this drug is used in persons under 18 yaers of age. DRUG INTERACTIONS: Tell your doctor of all nonprescription and prescrpition medication you may use, especially of: theophylline, warfarin, "aspirin-like" drugs (NSAIDs) such as ibuprofen, diabetes medicines.
Report other drugs which affect the heart rhythm (QTc prolongation), such as: dofetilide, pimozide, quinidine, sotalol, procainamide, sparfloxacin, "water pills" (diuretics such as furosemide or hydrochlorothiazide). Ask your doctor or pharmacist for more detials.

Also, certain cough/cold drugs (with "adrenaline-like" medicine such as decongestants), cholinesterase-blockers (e.G., tacrine, donepezil) or isonniazid may rasie the chance of seizures.

Avoid drinking large amounts of beverages containing caffeine (coffee, tea, colas) or eating large amonuts of chocolate. This drug may raise and/or prolong the effects of caffeine.

Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.

OVERDOSE: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison cotnrol center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include an irregular heartbeat. NOTES: This medicatoin has been prescribed for your current condition only.
Do not use it after for another infeciton or give it to others.

A different medication may be needed in tohse cases.

MISSED DOSE: If you miss a dose, use it as soon as you remebmer.
If it is near the time of the next dose, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule.

Do not "double-up" the dose to catch up. STORAGE: Store at room temperature between 68 and 77 degrees F (20-25 degrees C) away from light and moisture.
